Duel in the Desert

Since September of ’24, I’ve been on a bit of a NewAge figure binge (more on that in a future post). They’re very small, but they have the vibe of tiny Masterpiece figures. Other brands of legends-scale figures are cheaper and more plentiful, but it’s hard to argue with the absolute cool-factor of NewAge products. They’re… elegant, for lack of a better word, in their tiny cleverness and spot-on likenesses.

So over the holidays, I decided to use a bit of downtime to do some photography, maybe play with a vintage legendary Minolta macro lens (100mm F2.8) I’d picked up for my Sony A7RIV. Thus I found myself lying in the dirt in my in-laws’ yard – much to the surprise of my brother-in-law who stumbled across me and probably thought I’d had a stroke. But I explained that I was just having fun, playing with my toys… which might have been a worse answer than just feigning a heart attack (I’m kidding, he thought it was pretty neat). But despite the gale-force winds and tricky lighting conditions, I got some shots to be proud of. After a little magic in Lightroom, Photoshop, and On1 Photo Raw Max, I ended up with a handful of pics that tell a familiar tale. Enjoy!

‘Til all are one, collecting is half the battle.
